We looked at lots of pictures of trees against a winter sky and looked at the trees surrounding the school for a stimulus. It was hard at first but we eventually got to grips with using oil pastels instead of chalk pastels to create a winter sky. Chalk is definitely easier to blend and mix with but we know that we need to get used to different media (the stuff you create with) and after a while we discovered how to layer the colours using different strokes. We noticed how much more textured it is as you’re leaving little bits of the pastels behind to create the colour, which gives the picture a 3D feel to it. We finished it off with silhouettes of winter trees. We hope you like them!
