We had the time of our lives exhibiting our project “Are girls better than boys at GAA Football?” At the ESB Science Blast in the RDS yesterday.

We loved explaining our results to the other schools and the judges and talking about how we were inspired by the 20×20 campaign “if she can’t see it, she can’t be it” campaign to promote girls in sport. We discovered from all of the testing we did from October to February, that although boys were better at some of the skills we tested, girls were better at an equal number of other skills. There was no difference between the girls and boys overall and in some tests it was clear to us that teamwork was what helped players to win, not whether they are a boy or a girl. Our conclusion therefore, was that the best player is the player that works hard, has the best attitude and can work as a team member. It doesn’t matter if you’re a boy or a girl.

We got to visit all of the other projects on display from the other schools and loads of interesting stands teaching us lots of different science facts. We also got to watch very funny science shows and some of us were even interviewed by RTÉ!

We would highly recommend visiting Science Blast, we had a absolute “blast”!!
